The key personnel of Eclipse have extensive complementary skills and experience – covering investment sourcing and structuring, investment management, and advisor and investor relations.
Grant Ross – director
Grant is a founding director of Eclipse Capital.
Grant has designed and developed 24 investment products (equity based, property based and tax effective) over the past 13 years, which have resulted in the accumulation of in excess of $4bn of funds under management.
His involvement in product design and development extends across the board, including the drafting of all initial offer documents, and overseeing all development of all legal & third party documentation, contracts & expert reports. Additionally, he has also prepared and successfully obtained seven ATO product rulings in relation to relevant products.
Previously, Grant joined SAI in 1994, taking on the role of managing director in 1996. He was primarily responsible for the development of SAI’s funds management business, SAITeysMcMahon, and remained the managing director of this business until early 2007 when it was renamed Orchard. Throughout this time, Grant developed extensive skills in identifying and securing investment opportunities (in both conventional and special purpose assets), and structuring those investments to suit the needs of investors and their advisors.
Grant has a diverse skill set that is well suited to dealing with unusual and alternative investments, as he holds a degree in computer science (including philosophy), a masters degree in entrepreneurship and a masters degree in applied finance.
Jon Spensley – director
Jon is a founding director of Eclipse Capital.
Jon has performed as investment manager and director since 2004 and has developed an intimate knowledge of funds management over the past 15 years. He is the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Funds Management at Eclipse and responsible person of a number of registered managed investment schemes.
Jon’s responsibilities in investment management have included fund strategy formation, acquisition/divestments, debt establishment/management, fund modelling, market research and performance reporting. Jon has also led the due diligence in over 20 companies and specialises in term sheet structuring, transaction execution and investment valuations.
Prior to joining SAI in 2004, Jon was an early stage adviser to two Australian companies that later went on to feature in BRW's Fast 100 in four separate years. In addition, he worked in the UK and Australia in financial markets with ANZ, AXA and Merrill Lynch.
He is currently a director of the Advent III PDF Limited, a Fellow of the Financial Institute of Australia and a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Jon holds a bachelor of commerce degree and a graduate diploma of finance and investment.
Judy MacMahon – director
Judy is a business builder with extensive experience in financial services, property and funds management. She has raised capital through the establishment and growth of distribution businesses.
Notably, as a responsible officer, founding director / head of distribution of SAITeysMcMahon she developed distribution strategies; established distribution channels; recruited and managed the national sales team.
As a result she was responsible for all capital raising activity resulting in $3.6bn funds under management. Simultaneously Judy was responsible for marketing and investor relations to drive brand awareness to support capital raising.
